Me as a guest on a talk show presented by Busisiwe Titi.

Set yourself free

Genocide survivor ImmaculĂ©e Ilibagiza spent 91 days in a toilet in Rwanda. Sometimes we torture ourselves by not forgiveness others. If you say you are free while your heart is filled with hatred for other people you are lying to yourself. We find that in everday lives for example there was a story in Media24 about ImmaculĂ©e Ilibagiza who forgave her family killers. forgiveness is possible but yet difficult. We forgive because we want to set ourselves free. Sometimes the person you are angry with does not even care or they do not know about your problem. Sometimes people come and apologise to us after that they forget about the problem but some of us we remain holding to the hatred. My friend Thami once told me something when we were entering an English lecture she said “I hate that girl. I do not even want to sit next to her we must find another place to sit”. Unfortunately those were the last chairs left I se

Beware of falling in the same deep

People go to a tertiary institutions to gain higher education but some lose their most precious things. The research in tertiary institution residence showed that many young women lose their virginity in tertiary, especially first year students. It maybe peer pressure and freedom away from home. Some first years like to experiment things and even experiment with their bodies forgetting that which they loss they will never get it again. If you are still a virgin, you must know that it is easy to be like any girl who is not a virgin but they will never be like you. Some of the girls end up being pregnant or get sexual transmitted diseases. First year students need guidance from the residence because some of the girls make choices they will regret in future. Being a tertiary student does not mean you are ready to have sex, the only right time is when you are married. So as we celebrate women’s month I advise you to make wise choices.

Food pornography

An article in IOL about a women who committed suicide after weight loss has shocked me. It revealed unto me how people are so obsessed about their bodies and actually believing everything that the media presents to them as viewers. This woman was obessed about her body and she went to surgery because she wants to look thin and sexy. When she got what she wanted, she did not like it and committed suicide. The media present unto us an “ideal image” of a woman, that she has to be thin and sexy. At the  same time the media seduce us by advertising delicious food for example a chocolate sprayed with little sprinkles of water to give that fresh tempting look. For instance the advert of Ola chocolate, the woman in the advert is looking like she is roaring when she is openening her mouth to eat it. This symbolises the moment of transgressing, breaking the rules and standard set by media that you have to be thin. These ideologies that women get from the media about “ideal woman” are making

Everybody has a right to privacy

Even if you are government spokesperson, street kid, or any local person but if you live in South Africa you have rights. It is stated clear in the constitution bill of rights that anyone has a right to privacy, freedom of speech, etc. Why Manto Shabalala rights were violated? It’s a standing question. I want to agree with Manto's lawyer comment that the whole situation is “a part of Vendetta against the minister and efforts to destroy her”. Sunday times published an article about Manto Shabalala state of drinking based on her health records which are private. I do not encourage what Manto did but she never lead any person to drink alcohol so it’s her life and her body. Listen to what Manto says and do not do as she does. A senior health department said that "Manto preaches a moderate lifestyle to people with HIV/AIDS and tells pregnant women not to drink because of foetal alcohol syndrome. I do not know what more people expect from her because she points right way its up to p
